ADHD
ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) can cause symptoms such as physical and mental restlessness, drift mobility, loudness, impulsivity, lack of concentration and sometimes hyperactivity. Most people with ADHD take heavy medication in the form of pills to control their overactive behaviour. Children are usually prescribed ‘Ritalin’, and adults ‘Concerta’. Both of these medications contain methylphenidate, a substance that resembles amphetamine (otherwise known as the drug ’speed’). Even though speed is a stimulant, people with ADHD tend to calm down from it. They become better at excluding the impulses of their surroundings, which helps them focus.
Many people with ADHD prefer using cannabis oil because they don’t experience any negative side effects from it. As opposed to using the mentioned Ritalin and other medication based on methylphenidate, which can cause many side effects such as head aches, insomnia, anxiety and nausea. In addition, it isn’t possible to stop using the medication easily, because the patient will experience withdrawal symptoms. Cannabis oil can help effectively with the ADHD-symptoms and it has no side effects. Neither does it cause the withdrawal symptoms that you experience with Ritalin and comparable medication. Both cannabis oil based on CBD (cannabidiol) and cannabis oil based on THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) can help to relieve the symptoms of ADHD. Most patients that use cannabis oil for ADHD have the best experience with THC-oil, because THC works more directly in the brain, while CBD works more in the body. It differs from person to person which oil is the best fit.

Dit is in tegenstelling tot Ritalin en vergelijkbare medicijnen gebaseerd op methylfenidaat. Aan methylfenidaat is namelijk een lange lijst aan potentiële bijwerkingen verbonden, waaronder hoofdpijn, slapeloosheid, nervositeit en misselijkheid. Verder is het ook niet mogelijk om zomaar te stoppen met methylfenidaat, omdat de patiënt anders last kan krijgen van afkickverschijnselen.
Wietolie kan goed werken tegen ADHD en wietolie kent geen bijwerkingen. Daarnaast kent wietolie ook niet de afkickverschijnselen van Ritalin en vergelijkbare medicijnen.
Zowel wietolie gebaseerd op CBD (cannabidiol) en wietolie gebaseerd op THC (tetrahydrocannabidol) kunnen werken tegen ADHD. De meeste patiënten die wietolie tegen ADHD gebruiken, hebben vooral positieve ervaring met THC-olie, omdat THC directer werkt in de hersenen, terwijl CBD vooral werkt in het lichaam. Welke soort wietolie het meest geschikt is voor iemand met ADHD kan van persoon tot persoon verschillen.
